This year’s SXSW Interactive kicked off again with one its most innovative players, SaulPaul. For the last 4 years SaulPaul has provided conference attendees with memorable reviews of keynote speakers through rap and freestyle rap at that!
The process is as unique and creative as the rapper himself. First he listens to the presentation. Then it’s off to an unsuspecting spot, where he produces a beat, sets up the mic, freestyles the review, and finalizes the production. Once completed, it’s uploaded to the internet for the entire world to hear.
Over the years, SaulPaul has partnered with various corporate sponsors, including local sponsor Affordable Sounds. Last year’s partner, Prezi, added an additional element that provided visuals to each recap creating an experience for the viewer that was entirely new and unprecedented.
The rapper and his company, ReRoute, have always embodied the concept of innovative interaction. In 2010 he released Tower to Tower: Special Edition, as both a documentary and a soundtrack. He toured Tower to Tower in over 30 cities. He became known as an artist with a message who could create a “live freestyle” concert experience through creating new songs on the spot with audience members.
SaulPaul continues to interact with listeners even beyond the SXSW Interactive Conference with his new Dream in 3-D tour, based on his current book Dream in 3-D, which is a book of inspiration for anyone who dares to dream.
